The Bedale is one of those jackets that has barely needed to change since Barbour introduced it in 1980. Dame Margaret Barbour designed it with horse riding in mind — shorter length, roomy fit, rear vents — and that same logic is what makes it so practical today. This version keeps everything that defines the original and gives it a generous oversized cut.
The 6oz waxed cotton sits in that sweet spot between structure and lightness: heavy enough to block the wind and light rain, light enough to wear across every season without feeling weighed down. The moleskin-lined handwarmer pockets are a small detail worth mentioning — noticeably warmer against the hand than a standard lining.
